02-03-2010: Loving the local support

Me and Mark did our exclusive dead poet show last week… I loved it! Two shows’, 1 the brewery tap in Peterborough on Feb 23rd 2010, and the 2nd at mama lizs voodoo lounge in Stamford on Feb 24th 2010

The Peterborough show was mental, I was the first one there on the night so I set the tables and chairs up, I never thought we’d need seats for 52 people but we managed to fill the room with the seats full, and another 20 or so standing. Granted 70 odd people is no amazing number but it was a jam packed room which is always nice! Plus it was good to see a lot of people in the crowd that I’ve got to know over the last year or so from the local poetry scene, as it’s not my original art form I’m happy the originals seem to think I’m up to standard! The support is always appreciated.

The Stamford show was a bit less on the numbers but again I really enjoyed it, maybe running the show the night before gave us a better feel for the performance. When we ran it in Peterborough we split it into two parts, but in Stamford we just ran the whole thing start to end, no screwing about! We started with maybe 15 people in the crowd but drew another 10-15 in over the length of the show; I really feel like we worked the crowd well and took them on a journey. Again 30 odd people is not a huge crowd but as it was another fairly small beautiful venue, the night went well and the vibe was nice.

Our support slots Bev and Koosh both did amazing shows on both nights. Koosh had never done spoken word before but he was more than ready he held it down well, and how could anyone not love Bev! Standard, I was very happy with our choice of acts.

Once again for all those that came to the show and have helped us out along the way, thank you. Those who have not yet seen the show… maybe you should book us! Ha. We plan to be nice an active this year so I’m sure you’ll get a chance
